Express Scripts Inc has decided that Walgreens will no longer be in it's network, doing so has upset thousands of customers.

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before we can discuss the implications of Walgreens no longer being in Express Scripts network, we must explain it's function. Express Scripts is an entity which acts as a middleman between pharmacies providing the health care service and employers and health plans who pay for the medications.
Patients covered by an Express Scripts plan are forced to change their pharmacists and even having to travel farther to get their prescriptions filled at pharmacies with less convenient hours for their hectic schedules. Patients should speak with their Walgreens pharmacist to see if they are in Express Scripts program. Patients also can check the back of their prescription insurance card – if it has Express Scripts’ name there, then they may be affected. If it doesn’t say Express Scripts, then they are not affected
In removing Walgreens from it's network, Express Scripts is unnecessarily limiting it's patients from having  access to Walgreens many 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies, leaving those affected very upset.
Walgreens wants to help support and serve the troops. Express Scripts is standing in the way of that. One of Walgreens and Express Scripts clients is Tricare, which is the health and prescription drug program for America’s military service men and women. During negotiations, Walgreens took the unprecedented step of offering Express Scripts an ironclad guarantee that Walgreens prices would match or beat the average costs per adjusted prescription of all other pharmacies in the Tricare network.  Walgreens did this in an effort to prevent our country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle.
What Express Scripts is doing is just wrong and is hurting many people. Reach out to your local media and voice their dissatisfaction.
Walgreens wants to help. Walgreens is offering a special discount on annual membership for its Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens. As their website reads, the "Prescription Savings Club membership is risk free. If you don't save more than the cost of your membership during the course of the year of your membership, then we'll refund the difference." The program is very affordable ranging from $5 per individual and $10 for all members of your immediate family and all dependents 22 and younger and pets.
