WordCrasher Mac AppStore App Review and Promo Code Giveaway.

No comments:

With Mac OSX Lion’s Official release, we now have our first OSX Lion Mac AppStore App review, WordCrasher. This App was featured in a story before as being among the first OSX Lion Compatible Mac AppStore Apps. The Developer of this App, Kevin Ng has over 12 years of experience in the gaming industry, working for major gaming companies such as EA Games & RockStar Games. Kevin Ng has pulled out all of the stops on his first in-house game for the Mac AppStore and iOS Devices.

The Mac edition of this game has one mode, Marathon. The iOS edition, however has two modes, Flood Panic and Marathon. Marathon is a continuous game with no time limit, where you can create words with the falling letter chips and earn as many points as possible, provided you don’t let the letter chips pile up and reach the top! It resembles the Endless mode of Bejeweled, but is far more addictive!

The first time our staff played WordCrasher, they were hooked to their macs for a good 45 minutes until we called a staff meeting; one of them was actually late to the meeting, citing addiction to WordCrasher. Do not mistake this game for any old word game, it is far from it. The first time I played it, I instantly thought it was the perfect combination of tetris and wordsearch.

The graphics are sharp, clear, and fast. The 60 frames a second make this a very fluid and HD game. One thing I would like to see is the Flood Panic mode in the Mac edition.

You start out the game pretty simple, a few letters fall to the bottom and you start spelling words as soon as you can put words together. Every few seconds, more letter chips begin to fall and then you find yourself in a race to spell words before the screen fills up with the bright neon letter chips. I find it a bit easier to use the keyboard to just type my words in from the given letters, however it won't restrict me from tapping on the screen from time to time, forgetting I’m on a Mac and not my iPhone or iPad. The amazing graphics and bright colors look even better with the full screen, the OSX Lion update makes this app look amazing.

To conquer this game, you have to pay close attention and not look away for even a second or the game will be over before you even started. The resume feature allows you to exit the game at any time and pick up where you leave off, just amazing! Overall, this now ranks atop our Mac AppStore Apps list and a game our staff will play almost every day. A true five star rating.

Here are some of the Features in the newest update for Mac OSX Lion:

- HD graphics and animation
- Recognizes 5 languages - English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
- Three difficulty modes, Easy, Medium and Hard to cater for all levels of skill
- New INSANITY mode will test even the most battle hardened of touch typists. Seeing the Game Over screen within 15 seconds should not come as a surprise. Not for the faint of heart!
- 6 music tracks
- New sound effects
- Super smooth 60 frames per second animation
WordCrasher now takes advantage of new OS X Lion features: -
- Full-screen. Use the full-screen button or press CONTROL + COMMAND + F to toggle fullscreen mode under OS X Lion.
- Resume. Close WordCrasher at any time and resume your game right where you left it. Restart your Mac, and WordCrasher will resume straight away.

We will post up some HD Wallpaper from WordCrasher shortly. The Developers website can be viewed here.

Apple Signs 10 Year Deal for Grand Central Terminal Store Approval Pending

No comments:

Apple has reportedly signed a ten year deal with the MTA to open what will be the world's largest Apple store in Grand Central Terminal, according to the NYPost. The lease still needs to be approved by the MTA's financial committee on Monday and the board of directors on Wednesday; however, it's expected that the deal will be approved.

The 23,000-square-foot store will take up Grand Central's north and northeast balconies, displacing Charlie Palmer's Metrazur restaurant, according to MTA documents.

Apple will initially pay rent of $800,000 a year, nearly half a million more than Metrazur paid. After 10 years, the rent will balloon to more than $1 million annually. The company will also pay to refurbish the space.

The MTA estimates it will receive a minimum of $5 million in profits and says the deal "has the potential to bring a great new shopping destination to iconic Grand Central Terminal and significantly increase revenues for the MTA's transportation system."

Apple Working on Voice Powered Feature for iOS 5 Called 'Assistant'?

No comments:

Apple's new voice powered feature for iOS 5 will reportedly be called 'Assistant', according to 9to5Mac. The feature is said to be similar to the personal assistant app developed by Siri but use Nuance voice recognition technology and be implemented on a system wide level. Apple bought Siri in April 2010 and has reportedly signed a deal with Nuance to license its technology.

"Assistant" does not work only based off a user's voice inputs, but Apple will take information – securely – from user's devices like location, contact's information, and music metadata to formulate the best information to serve a user's request. Since Apple will be taking information such as phone contacts and location, we truly think that "Assistant" will work just like the Siri iPhone application does; but fully integrated into the operating system. We can imagine a user asking their iPhone "Assistant" to setup a movie with one of their friends. The user might say "setup movie with Mark" and based on Mark's contact info and the user's location data, will be able to offer tickets to a local theater and send Mark the information.

9to5Mac believes this speech data will be crowd-sourced using an anonymous process similar to Apple's Genius functions. They also suggest that the Assistant will be able to interpret voice input and and speak back intelligently.

The thinking is that Apple might make this feature an iPhone 5 exclusive to make the new device more enticing.

iOS 5 Beta 4 Brings iCloud Support for Documents

No comments:

iOS 5 beta 4 adds Documents to the list of services supported by iCloud, according to a 9to5Mac report.

Now, in iOS 5 beta 4, Apple is also testing and putting the final touches on their upcoming iCloud cloud-services platform. Previous iOS betas featured iTunes in the Cloud, Mail, Calendar, Reminders, and a few other features – but iOS 5 finally brings Documents in Cloud to the table.

We haven't had a chance to test the new feature but here is how Apple describes it...

---
Apps make it possible to create amazing presentations, write reports, and more right from your iOS device. You don't have to manage your documents in a complicated file system or remember to save your work. Your documents are just there, stored in your apps, and ready whenever you need them. And now, your apps can store that information in iCloud. Which means you can access your documents - with your latest updates - on whichever device you happen to be using at the time. Even better, this all happens automatically, without any effort from you.
---

iOS 5 will be released this fall and is only available to developers at this time.

Apple Recalls Some iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drives

No comments:

Apple has announced a iMac 1TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program.

Apple has determined that a very small number of Seagate 1TB hard drives used in 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac systems, may fail under certain conditions. These systems were sold between May 2011 and July 2011.

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) will replace affected hard drives free of charge. Apple is contacting affected iMac owners who provided a valid email address during the product registration process to let them know about this program. If you have not been contacted, but think you have a 1TB Seagate hard drive, you can enter your serial number at the link below to see if it's part of this program.
