Apple Offers Its Employees 'iBikes' to Move Between Campuses

No comments:

Apple is offering its employees 'iBikes' to move between campuses in Cupertino, according to MacMagazine.

There is no iBike (although this is horrible), but the bikes that Apple is now offering its employees are all aluminum, very good taste, have only three gears (heavy, light and normal) and still have a bag for MacBook, Cases, and the like.

Apple recently leased office space for about 1,300 at Results Way Corporate Center and is planning to build a 12,000 person mothership campus in Cupertino.

AT&T Activated 1.3 Million More iPhones Than Verizon in Q2

No comments:

AT&T activated 1.3 million more iPhones than Verizon did in its second quarter, according to the Associated Press.

In its quarterly earnings statement, Verizon revealed that it added 1.26 million wireless subscribers under contract in last quarter, nearly doubling the amount it added a year ago. The company also revealed that it activated 2.3 million iPhones, well below the 3.6 million that AT&T reported for the same period; however, it's worth noting that AT&T also sells the iPhone 3GS for $49.

Verizon says iPhone sales haven't quite been as good as the company expected because they thought a new iPhone model would be released this summer. "We expect it probably sometime in the fall. I think you'll see a significant jump there," McAdam told analysts on a conference call.

Verizon also announced that Chief Operating Officer Lowell McAdam will take over as CEO starting August 1st. He is replacing Ivan Seidenberg as part of succession plan. Seidenberg will remain chairman of the company.

*thanks iclarified*

We personally don't care who activated more, as long as Apple iPhones are gaining market share quarter over quarter.

Leaked Part Suggests Apple Will Offer Next iPod Touch in White?

No comments:

Apple may offer the next iPod touch in white, according to part photos posted by 9to5Mac.

We've received photos of a purported white iPod touch front panel. Specifically, this panel is the digitizer component, according to the iFixYouri iPhone repair shop. We obviously cannot confirm the legitimacy of these photos but according to iFixYouri, they fall in line with the fourth generation iPod touch's build. Knowing this, these can either be photos of a scrapped white iPod touch 4 in white or (hopefully) photos of the fifth-generation iPod touch's front panel in white.

Take a look at the photos below...

*thanks iclarified*

It seem like to be true, if you think about it. How can Apple update the iPod touch 5th gen? I can't see it being any thinner, or smaller. The only upgrade we can see happening are:
1. A faster processor
2. Led flash for rear facing camera
3. Make it in colors (they might only make white or go with the usual iPod nano colors)

If you have any guesses leave a comment below.

Lodsys Sues Rovio, EA, Atari, Square Enix, and Take-Two

No comments:

Lodsys has amended its complaint against app developers, dropping one developer (Wulven Games) and adding five including: Rovia, EA, Atari, Square Enix, and Take-Two Interactive.

Lodsys is claiming that its patents have been infringed by the following titles:
● Angry Birds game for iOS and Android [Rovio]
● The Sims 3 for iPhone [Electronics Arts]
● Atari's Greatest Hits for iPhone iPad [Atari],
● Big Hit Baseball for iPhone and iPad [Square Enix]
● 2K Sports NHL 2K11 for iPhone [Take-Two Interactive]

FOSS Patents notes that Lodsys is still not impressed by Apple's assertion that its own license to Lodsys's patents extends to its app developers. I also pointed out that Apple's "exhaustion" theory is not necessarily accurate. Also, Lodsys may be able to capitalize on contractual commitments that might preclude Apple and Google from challenging Lodsys's patents and the related infringement allegations.

Lodsys is now suing a total of 37 defendants...

T-Mobile USA Starts Selling Micro-SIM Card for iPhone

No comments:

T-Mobile USA has started selling a Micro-SIM Card in what may be a sign that Apple's next iPhone will support the network as rumored. The SIM card will also work with the iPhone 4 and iPad.

Already have a GSM phone or iPhone that you need to activate-or have an unlocked GSM phone you want to use on the T-Mobile network? Just get a Micro SIM card and choose a plan. Slip the ready-to-use Micro SIM Card into your phone and you're ready to go.

Recently Piper Jaffray analyst Chris Larsen reported that the next iPhone will support the T-Mobile network.

"While we remain uncertain regarding the next-generation iPhone's specs and features, we believe the most noteworthy change could be the device's ability to run on more networks, specifically Sprint and T-Mobile in the U.S,"

Apple's Cash and Marketable Securities Increase to $76,156,000,000

No comments:

Apple's cash and marketable securities increased to $76,156,000,000 last quarter, reports Horace Dediu of Asymco.

The increase was 15% sequentially or $10.4 billion in three months. That's the equivalent of an increase of $11 per share (to a current $81.2/share.)

Dediu notes that the amount is now nearly 16% higher than three months ago, and that the amount added last quarter is higher than the amount on hand 4.5 years ago, and that the cash added is higher than Google's overall revenues in the quarter.

The composition and growth of Apple's liquid assets is shown in chart below. You can learn more about Dediu's thoughts on this chart in his last Critical Path show.

Apple is Considering the Purchase of Hulu?

No comments:

Apple is considering making a bid for the Hulu online video service, according to a Bloomberg report.

Apple, the world's second-most valuable company, is in early talks that may lead to an offer for Hulu, said the people, who weren't authorized to speak publicly.

Hulu would give Apple a new subscription service and represent a possible challenge to Netflix Inc. (NFLX) Hulu's media- company owners, Walt Disney Co. (DIS), News Corp. (NWSA) and Comcast Corp. (CMCSA)'s NBC Universal, are offering suitors a five-year extension of program rights, including two years of exclusive access, people familiar with the matter said earlier this week.

Bloomberg says Morgan Stanley and Guggenheim Partners, the bankers for Hulu, have elicited interest from Google, Yahoo, AT&T and others; however, Microsoft has dropped out of the bidding. Business Insider reports that Yahoo is willing to pay up to $2 billion with but wants four or five years of exclusive access.

Hulu was apparently put up for sale last month after receiving interest from a potential suitor.
