Dell’s new ‘thinnest’ laptop isn’t even as thin as the 2.5-year old MacBook Pro

No comments:

We were expecting a MacBook Air like device. It turns out Dell’s new product, dubbed “Thinnest 15-inch 15-inch PC on the planet” isn’t thinner than the 15-inch MacBook Pro I gave up a year ago for an Air. That’s the same one that came out with the Unibody manufacturing process in October 2008.

Dell’s 15-inch XPS 15z is .97 inches thick compared to the MacBook PRo’s .95 inches. It does weigh in at slightly less than the MacBook Pro (which is due for an update soon as well)

All of that being said, it looks like a solid, loaded Sandy Bridge package for just $1000 – except the Windows OS of course. Imagery and video below:

Apple to Introduce a Curved-Glass iPhone 5?

No comments:

Digitimes reports that according to industry sources, Apple is planning to adopt a "curved cover glass" for its next generation iPhone.

Cover glass makers are reluctant to commit investment to the purchase of glass cutting equipment due to the high capital involved, said the sources.

According to those same sources, Apple has purchased 200-300 glass cutting machines to be used by glass makers.

There has been no timetable yet for the volume production of iPhone 5 as Apple is currently still working with related suppliers including those involved in cover glass, glass cutting, lamination and touch sensors to improve yield rates, the sources commented.

It's hard to say what type of design a "curved cover glass" iPhone would adopt. It would also fly against recent claims and beliefs that the iPhone 5 will adopt a generally similar-to the iPhone 4 form factor but with only minor modifications.

Apple has previously used curved glass in the previous generation iPod Nano

we can be sure for one thing and that apple would make the iphone 5 the phone that will change everything again!

Chronic Dev Team share some news on iPad 2 jailbreak and iOS 4.3.x support

No comments:

The Chronic Dev Team has decided to come out and issue a small update on its ongoing work on the iPad 2 jailbreak and iOS 4.3.x update. After the recent news that posixninja had recently said that the iPad 2 jailbreak would be “coming in weeks”, the Chronic Dev Team plan on holding him to that.

As I’m sure many people have heard, Josh (posixninja) has recently been quoted saying the iPad 2 jailbreak is coming in “weeks”, I know I have been very publicly abrasive and non-commital on giving any kind of timeframe or comment on this matter, but at the behest of Josh (in conjunction with his need for a swift kick to the ass for motivation) we’re ALL going to hold him to that!!! I’m not going to get into extensive detail about this, but what I will say one of the missing puzzle pieces may have reared its head and cast a glance in our direction… take from that what you will.

iOS 4.3.x support was on hold for greenpois0n so the Chronic Dev Team could concentrate fully on the iPad 2 jailbreak. Now however, the course has changed and we may see support for iOS 4.3.x soon.

It has now become possible to easily update and execute a workflow to enable RC6.2 (tentatively speaking… mmm #dirt) to be released “soon”…

So there you go, that is the update from The Chronic Dev Team, still no solid release date yet but things are making good progress! How many of our readers are desperate for an iPad 2 jailbreak? Let us know in the comments!
