TapeDeck 1.4 Released

No comments:

TapeDeck 1.4 is now available with support for channel selection on professional audio hardware, and audio monitoring for recording line input sources. Because TapeDeck is a popular choice for users that are looking to digtize a library of cassette tapes and vinyl records, TapeDeck now allows users to listen to their attached audio sources as they are recording.

"Software play-through has been requested quite a few times over the years, but it's a very difficult problem to solve when you're using different devices for recording and playback," says Chris Liscio, the founder of SuperMegaUltraGroovy. "We used to direct users to free utilities that provide this monitoring functionality, but we wanted to offer an all-in-one solution instead."

In addition to the growing archival user base, an increasing number of professional musicians are favoring TapeDeck over their favorite digital audio workstation software packages. As a result, TapeDeck now offers the ability to choose recording channels on hardware devices that offer numerous audio inputs.

"Musicians are telling me that TapeDeck has freed them from waiting for their professional applications to launch, load plugins, and create project spaces, when all they want to do is capture some quick song ideas," says Liscio. "Guitarists can plug a guitar into an Eleven Rack, choose the rig outputs on channels three and four, and capture ideas and tone settings that can be later incorporated into a larger project. TapeDeck is the ultimate scratch pad for quickly capturing musical ideas."

About toastycode:

Dev4phone has announced the release of Ear Trainer 1.6 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Ear Trainer is an app designed to help train your musical ear. It is aimed at musicians, music students and anyone interested in musical theory and improving their aural skills. Ear Trainer includes lessons and exercises for interval comparison, interval identification, chord identification, chord inversion, chord progressions, scales and relative pitch.

Ear Trainer indicates when a user is ready to move on to the next lesson.

Google Releases Google Shopper App for iPhone

No comments:

Google has released Google Shopper, an iPhone app that helps you find information on millions of products.

Google Shopper recognizes products by cover art, barcode, voice and text search. You can find local and online prices, reviews, specifications, videos, and more to help you make the best purchasing decision. You can save items to your shopping list and share with your friends.

--
Let's say you're planning a special meal for Valentine's Day - but you need a cast-iron skillet to get the recipe just right. With Shopper, finding one is easy enough: just type in "cast iron skillet" or say it using Voice Search. Then, from the results, you can choose a specific product that appeals to you. Alternatively, if you were in the store and wanted to see product reviews, you could also scan the barcode of a particular product.

Once you've selected a product result, you can compare prices across web retailers, and even find where you can purchase the item nearby, which is especially useful for those of us who are last-minute shoppers. For some retailers, we also provide inventory information so you can see if a particular store branch has the item in stock, has limited availability, or if the item is out of stock and you should head to a different store.

If you're not sure about making a purchase or are building out a gift list, you can "star" products for future consideration. You can also share items with friends across your social network to let them know about products you love or great deals you've found.
--

You can download Google Shopper from the App Store for free.

Google Announces Check-Ins for Latitude, Coming to iPhone Soon

No comments:

Google has announced a new check-in feature for Latitude that is available starting today for Android and coming soon to its iOS app.

Not your typical check-ins
Because you can use Latitude to automatically detect your location, we’ve added a few twists to checking in to make it really easy:

● Notifications: Turn on check-in notifications in Latitude’s settings and get a notification to check in at a nearby place once you arrive. Never forget to check in again.
● Automatic check-ins: Choose to automatically check in at specific places you designate, and you’ll be checked in when you’re there. You can talk to friends or finish your bagel without fumbling with your phone.
● Check out: Once you leave, Latitude knows to automatically check you out of places so friends aren’t left guessing if you’re still there.

If you have the Latitude app for iPhone, you'll see your friends' check-ins. Google says the app will be updated soon to allow you to check-in as well.

Innovative Screen Enlarging Utility

No comments:

RiMETRIC Games has released an excitingly unique product for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Drop-Up is a new game that offers players a true 3D gaming environment that is rare. Gameplay allows players to find the best position for their game pieces by spinning grid cubes against an earth at night background. The grids can be viewed from any direction and angle, inside and out. Up to four human or computer-generated players can participate in this challenging, strategy based game at one time.

Drop-Up is a new product in the AppStore. It is unique, offering a gaming environment that is rarely seen in games. The app offers a true, 3D experience that includes a dimension not seen in real life. Players are able to select boards or cubes of various sizes and shapes, as well as who they'll play against.

Moving pieces involves simple finger swipes. Players must move their men to block their opponents and try to get four in a row first. The line of game pieces can be in any direction, thanks to the unique 3D environment. That means a win is achievable, quite literally from any angle. Sounds easy but the gameplay itself challenges the mind to think and strategize in new ways. A player is able to spin their cube to see it inside and out from all sides, angles and directions in order to develop their strategy as they play.

These are some of the amazing features offered in Drop-Up:
* Simple finger-touch interface
* Dramatic earth-at-night background
* Selection of grid shapes and sizes
* Choice of up to 4 human or computer-generated opponents
* Truly incredible 3D gaming environment with an extra dimension
* Challenges the mind to think in new ways
* Warning! This game is addictive
* App does not request or pull personal or location data

Up to four human or computer-generated players are able to participate in a game at the same time. Players get to choose who their opponents will be, from a pre-game menu. Unlike some other sites, the AppStore does not have a True 3D category but users can find Drop-Up in the Games section on iTunes.

Pricing and Availability:
Drop-Up 1.1 Universal App is only $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. Promo codes are available for qualified reviewers. Please specify the website or blog you represent when making your request.

Visa Launches Contactless Payments in Europe via iPhone Dongle

No comments:

Visa Europe and Wireless Dynamics have announced a mobile contactless payment solution that will bring Visa contactless payments to iPhone users across Europe.

iPhone users simply attach the Wireless Dynamics iCarte accessory, available through their bank or mobile operator, to their iPhone and download the companion Visa Mobile application for iCarte App from the App Store. The iCarte accessory contains an antenna and an embedded Secure Element where the Visa mobile card is safely stored. This "card", in turn, works with an app from the App Store to enable payments on the iPhone. Once the Visa mobile card is activated, consumers can start making purchases by simply launching the app and touching their iPhone on any contactless-enabled point of sale terminal across Europe, without the need to enter their PIN.

The iCarte accessory is designed to equip iPhone users with the tools they need to buy goods using mobile contactless technology from a growing number of European retailers. Visa Europe's first deployment has been launched in collaboration with Yapi Kredi bank and Turkey's largest mobile operator, Turkcell. Yapi Kredi customers equipped with a Turkcell mobile plan will be the first who can purchase directly from their iPhone at 40,000 contactless point of sale terminals in Turkey using their iCarte payment accessory. The product is also being used in the UK with Visa staff in London with partners FIS, a leading provider of prepaid platforms, and Coventry Building Society. To further commercialise the accessory, Visa Europe will engage its member banks and partner mobile operators in Italy, France, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK, all of which have rapidly maturing contactless payment infrastructure.

The Wireless Dynamics iCarte accessory is compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone3G on iOS 3.1 or higher. The iCarte Secure Element can be associated with multiple Visa accounts.

Apple is Now Forcing Developers to Sell Content Via In-App Purchases

No comments:

Apple is now forcing developers who offer content for sale via a webstore to also offer the content via in-app purchase, according to Apple spokesperson Trudy Miller.

"We have not changed our developer terms or guidelines," Miller told AllThingsD. "We are now requiring that if an app offers customers the ability to purchase books outside of the app, that the same option is also available to customers from within the app with in-app purchase."

In other words, Apple wants its cut on sales enabled by its iOS devices, it has an established guideline that allows it to take it and that’s what it’s doing. Developers are still free to send customers to their own Web stores, but they must also offer them the option of purchasing content within their apps themselves, and they must route those sales through Apple which will then take its percentage.

This is a major setback for companies like Sony, Amazon, and other content providers who will not want to give up 30% of their sales to Apple.

Samsung Admits Galaxy Tab Sales Are 'Quite Small', Ok Really Small

No comments:

Samsung admitted that its Galaxy Tab sales have actually been 'quite small' during its quarterly earnings call, according to the WSJ.

In early December, Samsung announced it had sold one million devices "faster than expected". In January it announced sales of two million. It now appears that these were actually shipments to retailers rather than actual sales to customers.

Samsung executive, Lee Young-hee, had this to say,

"Well, your question was on sell-in and sell-out. As you heard, our sell-in was quite aggressive and this first quarterly result was quite, you know, fourth-quarter unit [figure] was around two million. Then, in terms of sell-out, we also believe it was quite small. We believe, as the introduction of new device, it was required to have consumers invest in the device. So therefore, even though sell-out wasn’t as fast as we expected, we still believe sell-out was quite OK."
