Apple to Add Photo and Media Streaming to iOS?

No comments:

The latest iOS 4.3 beta has revealed that Apple is planning to bring Photo and Media Streaming to itsiDevices, according to 9to5Mac.

Hidden deep in the iOS 4.3 file system is a new folder titled "Media Stream." Within that folder is some information about "Photo Streaming." From the looks of different alerts and plists, it appears that Apple will let iPhone users set up "Photo Streams" that friends could "subscribe" to. Also, it looks like there will be some privacy preferences related to this, so you can choose who is allowed to view your "Streams."

With Photo Streams, you will also be allowed to "invite" other users to view your pictures as you take them and upload them to a service. This service looks like it is connected to MobileMe, and we speculate that "Media Stream" can be directly connected to "Find my Friends."

9to5Mac feels that feature won't be ready until iOS 5 since its hidden so deeply in the firmware.

Best Buy to Talk Down the Verizon iPhone?

No comments:

It looks Best Buy may not be carrying the Verizon iPhone at launch and instead will be convincing customers to stick with AT&T, according to some internal documents obtained by GearLive.

Best Buy is training their employees to encourage customers to stay with AT&T. As you can see in the document above, which we've confirmed is straight out of a Best Buy playbook, you can see that Big Blue is looking to talk down the Verizon model. What we haven't confirmed is the reason why--is Best Buy not going to be selling the Verizon iPhone at launch? If not, it would make sense that they'd wanna downplay the phone that they aren't selling so that they can continue moving phones that they actually stock.

The Verizon iPhone has already been criticized for its mid cycle release, its slow speeds, its not having a SIM card, its discontinued upgrade policy, and its inability to use data and voice simultaneously; however, those with exceptionally poor AT&T service may not care.

The iPad 2 Could Have a Proximity Sensor

No comments:

The next generation iPad could have a proximity sensor which would automatically lock and unlock your device when you open and close its case cover, reports MacStories.

The Brazilian iPhone Blog notes that this feature would be accessible via the Settings app, where it can be enabled and disabled per your preference. The current iPad does have an ambient light sensor, but the proximity sensor would further refine its environmental awareness in respect to accessories.

This information comes via a string found in the iOS 4.3b1 firmware. Take a look at the screenshot below...

Trapster Has Been Hacked, Change Your Password

No comments:

Trapster, a popular iOS app that alerts you as you approach speed traps, has been the victim of a hacking attack that may have compromised users' email addresses and passwords.

The Trapster team has recently learned that our website has been the target of a hacking attempt, and it is possible that your email address and password were compromised. We have taken, and continue to take, preventative measures to avoid future incidents but we are recommending that you change your Trapster password. As always, Trapster recommends that you use distinctive passwords for each site you visit, but if you use the same password on Trapster that you use on other services, we recommend that you change your password on those services as well.

It's unclear whether Trapster had encrypted its stored passwords or not. To be safe, we recommend you change your password as soon as possible.
