Steve Jobs to Appear at Verizon iPhone Event? (Gizmodo Not Invited)

No comments:

Steve Jobs will likely make an appearance at what is predicted to be a Verizon iPhone event, according to Digital Daily.

While the appearance isn’t 100 percent assured, sources in a position to know tell me that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Jobs will likely join McAdam onstage in New York when he announces the addition of the iPhone to its handset lineup.

The WSJ has also confirmed the event will announce the CDMA iPhone. The largest U.S. wireless carrier will make the long-awaited announcement at an event Tuesday in New York City, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.

Additional confirmation comes from Gizmodo's missing invite. Here's what's key: We're great friends with Verizon. (Hi guys!) We've worked with them for years, and we've been to like every event they've had over the last three years. We haven't gotten an invite. Which is weird. And Jim Dalrymple, who received an invite, only writes about Apple and doesn't cover Verizon directly. We've reached out to Verizon to see why, exactly, we weren't invited, but we've gotten no comment yet. (Update: Verizon's official response is a big ol' no comment.)

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available...

The iPad iCade cabinet looks amazing

No comments:

ThinkGeek has a long history of turning their ludicrous April Fool's Day products into real things, and the latest product to get the reality treatment is their iCade iPad cabinet.

The iCade is pretty straightforward: it's a little arcade cabinet designed to hold an iPad, giving you a joystick and buttons to use to play games on it. The kit works with the free iCade app, and the buttons connect to the iPad via Bluetooth. The only game that it will work with at the outset is Asteroids, but a developers kit will be released to allow for a whole bunch more iCade-compatible games. It'll go on sale for $100 in the near future, so get your iPad ready and get excited.

iTunes to house FOX’s award screeners for SAG

No comments:

Fox has announced that this year the award screeners for the Screen Actors Guild awards will be placed on iTunes. Award screeners are copies of films given to the Screen Actors Guild prior to the awards to they could vote for winners. Traditionally, studios send out copies of films on watermarked DVD’s but this year, they worked with Apple to place them on iTunes.

The films Black Swan, Conviction, and 127 Hours will be available for the nearly 100,000 Screen Actors Guild members via iTunes from January 7th until January 28th. The SAG members will be given special redemption codes to download their movies, which they can then play on their supported device (Mac, PC, iOS Device, Apple TV etc.).

Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Services Eddy Cue had this to say:

We’ve worked with Fox to bring their films to SAG members in an innovative way. We think the voting members will enjoy being able to view these films however they choose, whether on their iPad, iPhone or with Apple TV.
Fox’s press release is after the break.

Verizon Sends Out Invitations to iPhone Press Event?

No comments:

Verizon is sending out invitations to a special press event that will be held on Tuesday, January 11th in New York City .

TechCrunch's MG Siegler notes that this invite is a bit different than normal.

"Well, for one thing, I don’t typically get invites directly from Verizon to anything. At least not that I can recall. They usually send those directly to the MobileCrunch and CrunchGear guys. But this invite appears to very specifically be for me — it’s non-transferable. Would Verizon send me such an invite unless it was specially about Apple?"

Interestingly, Apple blogger Jim Dalrymple for TheLoop has also received an invitation. Many believe this event will be used to announce the CDMA Verizon iPhone which is expected to launch on February 3rd.

The Big Bang Theory Has Fun Creating an iPhone App

No comments:

Yesterday's episode of the Big Bang Theory had Sheldon taking over Leonard's creation of an iPhone app.

The episode is hilarious. What’s more, the guys behind the show really tried to make the creation of their "differential equation solver app that can read your handwriting" appear as real as possible. This included Objective-C code written all over the apartment, as well as mock UI (user interface) concepts.

"The Bus Pants Utilization" can be viewed on CBS.com from inside the United States.

February 3rd is Verizon iPhone launch

No comments:

BGR uses several factors to come to their conclusion: Apple Employee Blackout dates of February 3rd and February 6th, Verizon Thursday Launches, and some earlier reports to conclude that February 3rd is D Day for the Verizon iPhone. That would put an announcement between now and then with perhaps some iPad 2 news as well (iPad 1 was announced in January but there wasn’t a ‘remaining iPads in inventory’ issue then).

Anyway. We’re hyped! (More below)

Related news claims “Verizon is having another one of their mandatory face-to-face training sessions for an “iconic pre-order”, this one scheduled for January 25 to February 4, 2011,” says BGR (they’re tracking this).

Verizon iPhone to Launch on February 3rd?

No comments:

BGR has confirmed with a source close to Apple that employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th are blocked.

Back in June of last year, Apple picked the dates of 24th to the 27th for its iPhone 4 weekend launch — also a Thursday through Sunday. In addition, Verizon Wireless typically launches new devices on Thursdays. While BGR has not yet confirmed that the Verizon iPhone is the device we’ll see debut on the 3rd, the timing lines up very well with previous reports; no other Apple products have been rumored to be launching in this time frame.

No comments:

Apple today announced that over one million apps have been downloaded from the Mac App Store in the first day.

"We're amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting," said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. "Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is."

The Mac App Store offers apps in Education, Games, Graphics & Design, Lifestyle, Productivity, Utilities and other categories. Design Drawings of the Next Generation iPhone?

No comments:

Apple.pro has posted design drawings of what may be the next generation iPhone. The drawings were reportedly obtained from Foxconn.

Earlier this week GlobalDirectParts posted an almost six minute long video showcasing what they believe to be parts from the iPhone 5. Apple has since forced YouTube to remove the video.

Breaking news on Verizon Apple deal!

No comments:

According to our source, Apple and Verizon have made a deal and are going to release Verizon branded products (iPhone 4 & iPad(current generations)) sometime in the first two quarters of 2011. This source gave us very accurate news when the iPhone 4 was being released and quantities that would be available. The source also stated that there has been talk of a 7-8 inch offering from Apple. Another source stated that the only way Verizon got the deal in is that Verizon would lag behind AT&T by one year give or take a few months...

IMO I will not believe this until I see it with my own eyes! Even though our sources have proven there worth it is to big of a story to believe it just like that, what happened to the 5yr contract? Between AT&T and Apple?

iPad 2 Mockups Created to Rumor Specifications

No comments:

iPad 2 mockups have been created based on the alleged redesign specifications that have leaked online.

MIC Gadget posted the images below today. What do you think?

*thanks iclarified*

These designs are just paying off of the iPod touch 4th gen. IMO this would e a bad move for Apple, a polished back would get minute scratches and be visible easily, a Matt finish back cover is more likely.

NBC Debuts New TV Show on the iPad

No comments:

NBC has debuted its new TV show entitled "The Cape" on the iPad, according to a Mashable report.

NBC’s new show The Cape is getting its premiere today, but you can only watch it if you have an iPad. The sneak peek was made possible via a relationship with DC Comics, which will offer viewers the chance to view the one-hour pilot episode from January 5 to 8 via DC’s free iPad app. The show’s television premiere is set for January 9. Though NBC is partnering with DC, the show isn’t based on a DC Comics character, but is instead inspired by it.

The show features David Lyons as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force that is framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. Forced into hiding and desperate to reunite with his wife and son, he recreates himself as a caped hero, determined to bring justice back to the city he loves.
