iPhone Dev-Team Releases 'Backup 'Plan' Untethered Jailbreak [Update x2]

No comments:

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a beta of their 'backup plan' untethered jailbreak. Currently the beta is only for Mac users and is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.

Important Points:
● This is a beta tester program. Things can go very wrong, so please don’t even consider testing if you have pictures or other media on your device that you haven’t backed up!
● For the same reason, please don’t participate if you rely on the ultrasn0w carrier unlock. Wait for the final version!
● Until we fix some sandbox issues with bluetooth, the bluetooth functionality is disabled.
● This very first beta1 is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.
● You must already have the usbmuxd software installed and running on your Mac.

You can download the updated version of RedSn0w here. You can find our tutorial HERE.

Update:
The second beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version should fix all the native app crashes (including Task switcher). That’s the only change in from beta1….Bluetooth is still disabled. If you had trouble using the usbmuxd in beta1, please wait until we incorporate that into redsn0w itself (i.e. don’t bother trying this beta2, just wait for the integration).

Update x2:
The third beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version extends the fix made in beta2 over to the non-GUI programs too (like the daemons that handle media content). That should cover things like Facetime, Winterboard themes, and embedded videos in iTunes. If you had trouble using the usbmuxd in previous betas, please wait until we incorporate that into redsn0w itself (i.e. don’t bother trying this beta3, just wait for the integration).

No comments:

Pull to Refresh Safari, is a tweak that lets you use the pull to refresh feature in the iPhone's web browser.

Tweak that brings the "Pull to Refresh" effect to the mobile safari app (similar to twitter, facebook app). You can either pull down to refresh a page or pull down to stop a page from loading if it is currently loading. This tweak is compatible with firmware 3.x and iOS4.x and requires mobilesubstrate

By pulling your browser view down past the address bar, you can reveal a quick trigger for refreshing like is seen in some popular apps.

You can download Pull to Refresh Safari free from the BigBoss Cydia Repository.

Apple to Adopt Dual-Core Chip for iPad 2?

No comments:

Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, claims Apple's iPad 2 will utilize a dual-core chip to compete with the BlackBerry PlayBook and upcoming Motorola tablet.

"Apple is on track to refresh the iPad by March and iPhone by late summer. A key component upgrade across these platforms will be a dual-core processor featuring a pair of 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 cores."

Kumar also notes that Apple is now meeting iPad demand say, "iPad supply has largely satiated demand and Apple can sustain quarterly shipments at around 6 million/quarter. At these levels, Apple would capture about half the forecasted market for 2011."

Commenting on the Verizon iPhone, Kumar says, "iPhone volumes could also be maintained at the 15 million/quarter level through next year. The launch at Verizon could support an incremental 8 million units."

Softbank Introduces NFC Stickers for Apple iPhone

No comments:

Software is introducing NFC stickers for the iPhone 4 that connect to the FeliCa payment system in Japan, according to Engadget.

Japanese carrier Softbank has responded to complaints about the iPhone 4's NFC deficit -- the FeliCa payment system is pretty popular over in the land of sumo, sushi and sun-rising -- by introducing a new "seal" for the back of Apple's latest and greatest. It sticks on, covering almost the entire rear, but is apparently thin enough not to get in the way of using one of Apple's own Bumpers alongside it.

The sticker doesn't actually communicate with the iPhone but will still allow you to make payments by swiping your device. It reported goes on sale in February at a price of ¥2,980 ($36).
