Costco Officially Confirms They Have Ended Their Relationship With Apple

No comments:

Costco has officially confirmed that they have ended their relationship with Apple, according to the Seattle Times. This comes after Apple snubbed the retailer and allowed nearly all of its competing to carry the iPad.

The chain is phasing out Apple products, per a mutual agreement between the companies, Galanti told The Seattle Times. Costco had sold iPods and pre-loaded iTunes cards for years, although never at huge discounts; and Apple never allowed Costco to sell its products online like other retailers, he said. "In the past couple months, we agreed to wind down."

Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette said the company has no comment.

Ok idk what costco is betting on, stoping sales of big brand names (coca cola, and apple) and many others that we don't know of. Sooner or later every company will do something to tick off costco and what will they be left selling? Generic brand items that no one wants?? Come on be more realistic, this is a big company acting like a three year old!

iPhone Game Guru Leaves Apple

No comments:

Graeme Devine, who Apple hired in 2009 to make sure Apple's iOS devices play games well, has left the company.

Devine explained his role at Apple to Kotaku,

"My job there was basically to make gaming on the iOS devices fantastic," Devine said. "Basically that meant looking at the technologies involved and making sure the software played well with the hardware, to look at upcoming hardware/API and say 'Yup, that is a good thing'.

"Apple didn't have an in-house game designer before me so I think it was pretty unique, game technologies touch everything from the graphics stack to touch latency to push notifications. No other app type covers so many technologies and having someone there to validate and help shape that was basically my day job. It was pretty kick ass."

Devine says he departed to return to game development, concentrating specifically on the iPhone and iPad.

Apple to Switch to Intel Graphics for Smaller MacBooks

No comments:

Apple has decided to use the Intel Sandy Bridge processor in its MacBook line dropping Nvidia graphics processors for certain models in the process, according to CNET.

Intel's newest processor, to be formally announced January 5 at the Consumer Electronics Show, will find its way into new MacBooks that will supersede current models, according to industry sources familiar with Apple's plans. Current MacBooks use Nvidia graphics chips along with Intel Core i series and Core 2 Duo processors. But due to the enhanced graphics capabilities of Sandy Bridge, Apple--at least for now--has determined that it will not continue using Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs) in some models.

Apple will reportedly make the change to Sandy Bridge-only graphics for MacBooks 13-inchs in screen size and below. The higher-end MacBook Pros will reportedly use graphics from AMD.

Case for iPad 2 Shows Rear Facing Camera

No comments:

In what likely the first of many to come, a case for the iPad 2 has appeared online and shows a space for a rear facing camera.

Dubbed the "Crystal Case for iPad 2nd Generation," the case appears to have different, slimmer contours than the first-generation model, with the speaker opening unusually large on the back, and a hole for a rear-facing camera in the upper left-hand corner, similar to its position on the iPhone and fourth-generation iPod touch.

Apple is expected to launch a new version of its tablet as early as February.

iTunes Gets 90 Second Song Previews

No comments:

Apple has increased iTunes song previews to 90 seconds in length for tracks longer than two minutes and thirty seconds.

In early November, Apple informed music labels of the change saying, "We are pleased to let you know that we are preparing to increase the length of music previews from 30 seconds to 90 seconds on the iTunes Store in the United States. We believe that giving potential customers more time to listen to your music will lead to more purchases."

Mac App Store Still Launching in January 2011

No comments:

Despite rumors that the Mac App Store will launching this month, LoopInSight says the launch is still planned for next year.

Reports earlier this week claimed Apple would launch the Mac App Store on December 13, ahead of the holiday shopping season. However, according to my sources, Apple will launch the store in the new year.

While a specific date was not given for the official opening of the store by my sources, Apple will meet the 90-day deadline given during its October "Back to the Mac" media event.
