Genuine White iPhone 4s Are Being Sold By Unofficial Chinese Resellers?

No comments:

Genuine white iPhone 4s are being sold by unofficial Chinese resellers, according to a GizChina report.

The devices come in a retail box labelled with a warning that says the phone is meant for internal company use only and not for sale.

Prices start from around 5500 Yuan ($828) and rising to nearly 8000 Yuan ($1204) for the base model 16Gb version and even higher for the 32Gb models. These prices are well above above the official retail price of the regular black iPhone 4 in China and seem even steeper when you factor in they are running iOS 4.1 which is locked to AT&T and cannot be unlocked! If you want to get your hands on the white iPhone 4 before (if they are) release it head over to Taobao and search iPhone 4 白色.

The white iPhone 4 has been officially delayed until next year with expectations that it may never get released or may be a Verizon only special.

Next-Generation iPad May Be CDMA-GSM With Thinner Unibody

No comments:

Apple's next-generation iPad may feature a thinner unibody design with a CDMA-GSM chip, according to speculation from Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair.

"Recent checks…suggest Apple is going to be ratcheting down production of the existing 3G iPad over the next two months in anticipation of ramping up a new World iPad that is powered by Qualcomm and will run on both GSM and CDMA based networks around the world," Blair writes. "Given our recent checks that suggest Apple is preparing to build approximately 48 million iPads in calendar 2011."

AllThingsD notes that Blair's checks also suggest these next-generation iPads will include at least a front-facing camera and some design adjustments. "We…understand the new iPad is thinner than the existing model and is essentially made from one piece of metal with no pins needed," he says. "We understand it requires a new type of manufacturing process as a result, similar to the company’s unibody approach seen in MacBooks."

Apple is expected to announce the iPad 2 in the spring of 2011.

Carriers Threaten to Stop Subsidizing iPhone Over Embedded SIM Card Rumor

No comments:

Some European carriers are warning Apple that they will refuse to subsidize the iPhone if Apple designs an embedded SIM card into the device, reports the Financial Times.

The operators are accusing Apple of trying to gain control of their relationship with their mobile customers with the new Sim. The technology could allow customers to buy the iPhone and sign up for service on Apple’s website and start using it immediately.

Closer to the operators’ hearts, it could allow customers to switch more easily from one to another or insist on shorter-term contracts. It could even set the stage for Apple to resell connection service on its own, although the company has not indicated such plans.

Robin Bienenstock, analyst at Bernstein, said such a move "could ultimately prove to be the first step in a process in which [the mobile operators] cede customer control to handset vendors like Apple, [and are] relegated to commodity capacity providers". It's thought Apple could see a reduction in sales of up to 12% if this happened.

It was reported late last month that Apple and Gemalto have created a SIM card, which is typically a chip that carries subscriber identification information for the carriers, that will be integrated into the iPhone itself. Then customers will then be able to choose their carrier at purchase at the Apple web site or retail store, or buy the phone and get their handset up and running through a download at the App Store as opposed to visiting a carrier store or calling the carrier.

Beautiful Safari Icon Set

No comments:

Michael Flarup has released a beautiful set of Safari icons on PixelResort

Something that started out as a doodle on my iPad grew into a cascade of late nights studying compass concepts and exchanging ideas with designers and good-folk alike. Sometimes you just stumble upon a fun notion and you gotta run with it, in this case it was as simple as the idea of why the Safari icon always had to depict that one type of Compass. A few months later, and I’m finally wrapping up 10 fun new compass icons for you guys to put in your docks.

Microsoft was giving away tickets to Miley Cyrus for the first 1,000 in line to this their seventh retail store.

I loved the part when the reporter asked a person in line what are they waiting for the person responds "tickets to Miley Cyrus", they have to bribe people to show up for a big event or nobody would care...

LaCie Announces Smallest SSD USB 3.0 Drive

No comments:

LaCie has announced the LaCie FastKey, the smallest SSD USB 3.0 drive, delivering speeds up to 260MB/s. Small enough to hide in the palm of your hand, LaCie’s FastKey can transfer 1000 mp3 or five DIVX files in less than 30 seconds.

100 Times Faster than USB 2.0
While the FastKey can perform up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, its peak performance goes far beyond that. Combining the performance of SSD, USB 3.0 and DRAM cache technology, the FastKey can write small files up to 100 times faster than your average USB 2.0 hard drive.

"With most flash drives, transferring a large number of photos and mp3 files can take a few minutes," said Luc Pierart, Business Unit Manager, Personal Storage, LaCie. "With the Fastkey, transferring small files is immediate. You can back up or share your music and photos libraries as you head out the door."

Compact Metal Design
Combining the highly robust solid-state flash technology, with sturdy aluminum casing, the FastKey ensures your data is as safe as it is mobile. But don’t mistake its high capacity for a 2.5” mobile SSD. The LaCie FastKey packs 120GB into a sleek flash drive (measuring just 26cm3) with no wasted space. And with the included strap, users can secure the FastKey to a keychain or bag for additional on-the-go convenience.

Full Data Protection
The LaCie FastKey not only protects data from the outside, it includes software AES 256-bit encryption – so your data is secure no matter how it’s used. Simply choose the amount of capacity you want to encrypt, and access it with a custom password. Now you can pass the FastKey to colleagues and friends and know your personal files are secure. If privacy is a priority, you can encrypt the full capacity.

For even more storage and sharing options, the LaCie FastKey also comes with 4GB of secure online storage from Wuala.

Availability
The LaCie FastKey is available in 30GB, 60GB and 120GB capacities through the LaCie Online Store, LaCie Corner, and LaCie Reseller+ starting at $149.99.
