Printopia Enables AirPrint on Non-Compatible Printers

No comments:

Ecamm has announced Printopia, system utility that runs on your Mac to share its printers to any capable iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Printopia will also add a virtual printer, allowing you to save print-outs to your Mac as PDF files.

Wireless Printing To Your Mac's Printers
Whether you have an inkjet printer plugged into your Mac, a laser printer plugged into your router or even a network printer, if your Mac can print to it, Printopia will share it. Printopia translates for your printer, allowing it to speak to your iPhone or iPad even if it's not an AirPrint-compatible printer. Printopia even supports many password-protected printers.

Easy, Instant Set-up
Ecamm puts ease of use first. Double-click to install Printopia, and within seconds see most any connected printers on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. You'll also see Printopia's "Send To Mac" and "Send To Dropbox on Mac" virtual printers. That's it!

Save Paper With A Printopia Virtual Printer
Printopia adds a "Send To Mac" printer to your network. This virtual printing option will save a PDF or JPG file directly to your Mac. No need to waste paper next time you need to print a confirmation page.

Print To Your Mac's Dropbox Folder
Dropbox.com users can print PDF and JPG files directly to the Mac's Dropbox folder. Dropbox will take care of syncing your printouts for access anywhere you go.

Works With Leopard and PowerPC Macs
Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) and PowerPC Mac users won't get left out in the cold. Printopia is happy to serve you.

No Need To Modify Your Operating System
Beware of printing solutions that re-configure your Mac's printing system. Printopia runs independently from printer sharing, and and does not modify your Mac or iOS operating system in any way.

You can purchase Printopia for $9.95 or try the demo version free for 7 days.

Phonekerchief Blocks Cell Phone Signals Politely

No comments:

Show how important your date with the Phonekerchief. The Phonekerchief allows users to wrap itself around your phone and block its signal.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?
The idea is simple: turn off phones during dinner. But it's so hard! My Phone Is Off For You provides tools to help you start the conversation.

I FEEL AWKWARD
Don't worry. This isn't punishment; it's fun! The different tools appeal to a wide range of people and personalities.

WHAT IF I FORGET MY TOOL?
This revolution does NOT depend on any new tool, product, gadget, or thing; it depends on people. The tool can be anything it takes to start the conversation, but it is up to us to begin.

HOW LONG SHOULD OUR PHONES BE OFF?
That is entirely up to you! You can turn off your phone 20 minutes to 2 hours a night, everyday, only weekends, whatever you want. But I guarantee that the more disconnect, the more fulfilled you will feel!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Simply disconnecting every week can lead to more focused interactions, deeper relationships, and longer, healthier lives!

Adobe Testing Optimized Version of Flash for MacBook Air

No comments:

Adobe's Shantanu Narayen says the company is testing an optimized version of Flash for the MacBook Air, according to Engadget.

Recent reports found that removing Flash from the MacBook Air can increase battery life by up to 2 hours.

We asked the CEO what the greater battery life sans flash in Apple's new laptop meant for the platform (vis-a-vis HTML5) just a few minutes ago. He said it's really all about optimizing for silicon: "When we have access to hardware acceleration, we've proven that Flash has equal or better performance on every platform." You wouldn't be blamed for thinking that sentence a cop-out, but that's actually not the case -- the chief executive says they've presently got a Macbook Air in the labs and have an optimized beta of Flash for the device in testing even as we speak.

News Corp Says Tablet-Only Publication is Coming Soon

No comments:

News Corp has announced that they will soon be unveiling a tablet-only publication for devices such as the iPad, according to a Reuters report.

"It's a tablet-only product and it's very exciting," James Murdoch, head of the media group's operations in Europe and Asia, told journalists at an investor conference in Spain. "You'll hear more about that soon."

"The tablet in general, it lends itself to a type of journalism that is really new," Murdoch said. "These really are becoming our flagship products, even though they're very much in their infancy," he said.

Murdoch said the publication would largely be a U.S. product.

FT Gives 1,800 Employees $480 Bonus to Buy an iPad

No comments:

The Financial Times is giving its staff a $480 bonus to go out a purchase an iPad, reports PaidContent.

The site has reposted an internal memo from FT Group CEO John Ridding:

--
"I’m pleased to let you know that we are launching today a new initiative that will allow FT staff to claim a £300 (€350/ US$480) subsidy for the purchase of a personal iPad or tablet. This will run from today until 30th June 2011.

"The FT is making this investment because digital channels and tablet devices are becoming increasingly important for us and the media industry in general, and as recognition of your contribution to our strong performance this year.

"The FT has set the pace among global media organisations for tablet editions, winning a prestigious award from Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) for our iPad app. We have also been a launch partner with Samsung on the Galaxy Tab.

"We have seen rapid growth in readership on these new devices, which support and extend our "channel neutral" strategy. Given their importance and the wave of innovation that we are seeing in applications and services, we want to encourage all our staff to be expert and experienced in using them.

"We need to fully understand their potential and share the user experience to better understand our customers and the developments and innovations taking place in the market. Tablet devices will also facilitate working while travelling, which is an increasing feature of our global organisation.

"The subsidy scheme will be combined with a series of masterclasses and workshops to help staff get the most from their devices and the applications that are currently available."

Apple's iAd Coming to Europe in December

No comments:

Apple today announced it will expand its iAd mobile advertising network to the UK and France this December, with Germany to follow in January. iAd will launch in Europe with iAds from L’Oréal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Citi, Evian, LG Display, AB InBev, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio. Since its US launch in July, iAd has emerged as a powerful new way for advertisers to reach millions of iPhone and iPod touch users right in their favorite apps, while providing a significant new revenue stream for developers. iAd has signed on over half of the top 25 leading US national advertisers in just four months, with a projected 21 percent share of US mobile display advertising revenue for 2010 according to research firm IDC.

"We're thrilled to add leading global brands to the iAd Network in Europe and create even more great opportunities for developers," said Andy Miller, Apple’s vice president of iAd. "In just four months, we’ve doubled the number of advertisers on the network and thousands of developers now have a valuable new source of revenue."

"As the world leader in the beauty business, L’Oréal aims to create the most meaningful connections between its brands and its customers, so iAd was a natural choice," said Marc Menesguen, L’Oréal’s Head of strategic marketing. "We’re thrilled by the quality, the interactivity and the depth of iAd’s user experience, giving us an unparalleled opportunity to reach and serve the most engaged and discerning customers at the digital forefront of beauty, hence our choice of Lancôme to lead our iAd campaign."

Is This Verizon's White iPhone 4? [Photo]

No comments:

A photo claiming to be a white Verizon iPhone 4 with a redesigned antenna and no SIM card slot has been posted online by CoveringWeb.

While this photo is likely a fake, a good mod, or a knockoff, CultofMac noticed an interesting tweet from the VerizonCareers Twitter account in reference to the Verizon iPhone rumor.

The operator of Verizon Careers' Twitter account pimped their recent addition of the iPad to their mobile line-up, and was then asked by Twitter user slink317 for an "iPhone hint?"

Verizon Career's response accompanied a retweet of slinky123′s question: "yes that is the latest scoop."

The tweet has since been pulled.
