First Dual Front Back Camera iPhone App Released

No comments:

Mirage Labs has announced the release of Flexicorder 1.0 for the iPhone. A video recording app, it is the first iPhone app that allows both front and back cameras (for iPhone 4) to be used during a single recording session leading to some interesting possibilities. Initial user testing revealed ways in which this feature was used. Some of the more popular uses were shooting self videos and outdoor shooting.

It also allows many output resolutions and bit rates for video to be saved. With the massive increase in video recording using iPhones, it has been often observed that people run out storage space. Not all videos are equally important to be saved in high-def, so having this option is nice. With little tweaking in recording settings, the space saving can be enormous without any visible loss in video quality.

Before Flexicorder, Mirage Labs also produced top selling video apps such as Videopix (iPhone's first video frame grabber) and Video Zoom (iPhone's first video zoom). These applications have consistently ranked in the 98th percentile or above according to sales volume in their categories. During beta testing the application received high marks from users for utility and ease of use.

Supported Languages:
* US English and Japanese

Pricing and Availability:
Flexicorder 1.0 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photography category.

Sintek Denies Providing Apple With Sample Touch Panels for iMac

No comments:

Barry Wu, VP and spokesperson of Sintek Photronics, is denying a previous report by DigiTimes which said the company is providing Apple with sample iMac touch panels.

An October 1, 2010 report cited industry sources saying Sintek has sent samples of projected capacitive touch panels to Apple for the latest iMac as the company is now is producing touch panels at its 5.3G line, which is the largest production line for projected capacitive touch panels in terms of substrate size.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to determine the truth in this situation as it is common practice for companies to deny rumors.

Apple Paid $1.7 Million to Couple to Sell Land Needed for $1 Billion Data Center

No comments:

It took $1.7 million to convince a North Carolina couple to sell their home to Apple so the company could use the land for a $1 billion dollar data center, according to Bloomberg.

Donnie and Kathy Fulbright had no interest in moving out of their home of 34 years in the town of Maiden. After refusing two offers, Apple finally told the couple to name their price. The Fulbrights lived in a single story house on less then one acre of land they had purchased for $6,000.

“They told us to put a price on it and we did,” said Kathy Fulbright, 62, seated on a brown leather sofa in the living room of the home she and her husband built with the proceeds. The 49-acre property boasts a 4,200-square-foot house with a Jacuzzi in the master bathroom, as well as a manmade pond stocked with bass and catfish.

Apple's data center is expected to be completed this year and will greatly increase their capacity for cloud storage and streaming.

iPad Sales Trajectory [Chart]

No comments:

A chart by CNN FORTUNE depicts the incredible sales trajectory of the iPad since its launch. The consensus is roughly 8.25 million units sold.

We know that the company sold 3.27 million in Q3. The estimates for Q4 we've gathered in advance of the company's Oct. 18 earnings report range from a low of 3.8 million from an uncharacteristically conservative Brian Marshall at Gleacher & Co. to a high of 6 million from the Apple Finance Board's Robert Paul Leitao, one of the amateur analysts whose estimates have proved in the past considerably more dependable than the professionals'.

According to CNBC, "this sales rate is blowing past the one million units the iPhone sold in its first quarter and the 350,000 units sold in the first year by the DVD player, the most quickly adopted non-phone electronic product."

Android is Now the Most Popular OS Among Recent Buyers

No comments:

According to August data from The Nielsen Company, Android is now the most popular operating system among people who bought a smartphone in the past six months, while Blackberry RIM and Apple iOS are in a statistical dead heat for second place among recent acquirers.

The Nielsen data covers a period that includes a full-month of iPhone 4 availability.

Among all smartphone owners, Blackberry still holds the dominant share with 31 percent of the market, though its lead over Apple is declining. Twenty-eight percent of smartphone owners have Apple iPhones, compared to 19 percent who have Android devices.

Glif iPhone 4 Tripod Mount and Stand is Looking for a Kickstart

1 comment:

Glif, a nicely designed tripod mount and stand for the iPhone 4, is looking for a Kickstart. The design was conceived by Tom Gerhardt, a software and hardware developer and Dan Provost, a interaction designer/blogger.

The idea for the Glif was first formed when we realized the iPhone 4 is literally the best camera we've ever owned. With the addition of HD video recording and High Dynamic Range photography, it's clear Apple is positioning the iPhone as a very high quality portable camera. But because of its small form factor (and Apple's minimalist design approach) it will never contain a threaded nut for attaching a tripod - standard on almost all photo and video cameras. Solutions for mounting an iPhone to a tripod exist (DIY or otherwise) but they are typically bulky and cumbersome. Our goal was to create something small, simple, and elegant.

It was always our intention for the Glif to serve as a kickstand for the iPhone as well, but it took several design iterations before we got it just right. The beauty of the design we finally arrived at is that it allows the iPhone to be positioned at a variety of different angles and orientations.

The duo is using Kickstarter because they don't have the capital required for the manufacturing process.
