Cloud-Synchronized Task Management for Mac

No comments:

Two Dogs Software has announced the release of TaskSurfer 1.0, the cloud-syncing task management application for Mac. TaskSurfer is a powerful and flexible task manager that fits GTD or tag-based systems, but does not force the casual user into a complicated workflow.

Because a project-based GTD style doesn’t suit everyone, TaskSurfer features a tag browser that lets the user focus on tasks that have been tagged with the user’s custom tags. Tags can be used for categories, time, locations, people, and anything that can be typed. The Tag Browser keeps it all sorted out.

Using Snow Leopard’s Core Location technology, tasks can be assigned to a location-based context, and tasks will be filtered as the Macbook moves from one location to the next. At home, office, or the coffee shop, TaskSurfer will show only the tasks appropriate for the current location.

TaskSurfer also provides the option to synchronize tasks with online task manager Toodledo. Tasks can be kept in-sync across Macs at home and office, and any device that supports syncing with Toodledo. “There was nothing out there for Macs that would do cloud syncing,” says Two Dogs developer and founder Mike Stewart. “Being restricted to syncing on the same network, and having only one choice for a mobile app, just wasn’t appealing. So TaskSurfer was born.”

Features:
* Synchronizes with Toodledo
* Location-based contexts to assign tasks to locations
* Smart folders for customized task views
* Tag Browser to find tasks easily
* Customizable user interface – task views, colors, and sorting
* Written and tested to support VoiceOver for accessibility
* Takes advantage of Snow Leopard features like Core Location and 64-bit processing

Pricing and Availability:
The retail price of TaskSurfer is $39 (USD); a 14-day trial is available. TaskSurfer require Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, and runs on any Intel Mac.

Limit Point Software Releases AddMovie 1.9

No comments:

Limit Point Software has announced AddMovie 1.9 for Mac OS X. AddMovie is a utility for concatenating several files (images or movies) into one single movie, saving the output in any movie format supported by your installed QuickTime components. The joined movie can be a reference movie to save space, or self contained. If the output format of the joined movie file is .mov then you have the option of adding chapter titles to demarc the locations of the segments from which it was made.

You can also use AddMovie to batch convert a collection of movies to another format. Any format supported by QuickTime is available, choose from a popup menu in the Preferences window. AddMovie can also be used to extract movie audio tracks to files, splitting movies at arbitrary points into two separate movie files, setting movie poster frames and saving movie frames as images.

Highlights:
* Drag and drop simplicity for ordering movies
* Combine movies, optionally with chapters, saving in various movie formats
* Batch export movies to various formats
* Extract movie frames and save them as images
* Split movies at arbitrary points using the integrated movie viewer
* Set the poster frame of a movie
* Extract movie audio tracks to AIFF and other format files
* Modify movie duration

Using AddMovie is very easy: drag files from the Finder into the main window, re-order by dragging and click the "Add Movies" button to combine them, or "Export Movies" to convert them to another movie format. You can also add items by dragging URLs from your web browser into the file list. AddMovie will download the URL, and if it is a valid file, such as a movie or picture, AddMovie will add it to the file list window Use the integrated movie viewer to play the movies in the file list.

AddMovie is a member of the Limit Point Software Utilities Bundle that consists of a wide array of small task oriented programs: movie and image processing, file management, batch email, web crawling, URL resource downloading, and much more. Register once and own all of them. Upgrades are always free, and new products are always included.

Adidas Cancels $10 Million iAd Campaign Because Jobs is a Control Freak?

No comments:

Adidas has reportedly canceled a $10+ million iAd campaign because Steve Jobs is too much of a control freak, according to BusinessInsider.

Adidas supposedly pulled its $10+ million ad campaign from the iAd program because Apple CEO Steve Jobs was being too much of a control freak. According to one industry exec, Adidas decided to cancel its iAds after Apple rejected its creative concept for the third time.

In August it was reported that advertisers are becoming increasingly frustrated at the slow start of the iAd network due to Apple's tight control of the ad-making process. Apple is not allowing companies to develop their own ads yet; rather, it has an internal team that is responsible for producing the creatives.

At the time, Chanel was thought to have pulled their campaign and now it seems Adidas has joined them.

Apple Loses Patent Infringement Case to Mirror Worlds

No comments:

Apple has lost a patent infringement case to Mirror Worlds over how it displays documents on a computer screen, according to Bloomberg.

The federal jury in Tyler, Texas, awarded $208.5 million in damages for each of the patents infringed. The verdict form was unclear as to whether the amount applies to the three patents collectively or would be charged individually. Lawyers for closely held Mirror Worlds declined to discuss the verdict.

AppleInsider notes that the patents were based on research by Yale professor David Gelernter and then-doctoral student Eric Freeman. Gelernter emerged as a prominent computer scientist in the 1980s, eventually developing a time-based method of organizing data that he dubbed "lifestreaming." Patents for the concept date back as early as 1999.

Apple uses these methods of displaying information in Spotlight, Time Machine, and iTunes Cover Flow.

Apple Testing New Touchscreen iMacs?

No comments:

Sintek Photronics has reportedly sent samples of projected capacitive touch panels to Apple for testing in the iMac, according to a DigiTimes report.

Sintek Photronics has a good chance of becoming Apple's supplier since not many companies have the capability of producing a panel 20-inch and above. Sintek is equipped with 5.3G production lines.

Projected capacitive touch panels are typically produced by placing touch sensors over the panel, and then a cover glass over the sensors. The conventional method is not only costly and complex, but affects display brightness. The new iMac is rumored to have a good vertical and horizontal viewing angle, and its projected capacitive touch panel will adopt a one-glass solution, which integrates the touch sensor and cover glass, to reduce thickness and weight.

*thanks iclarified*

If this is true than apple should think about entering their iMacs into the pos system for small businesses.
