No comments:

Sergio Mcfly has announced the release of a Windows version of iPhoDroid which can install Android on your iPhone with one click.

"YES! It's today. Gotta tell you Im so thankful for everyone to be so patient and understandable for this Release. The delay was necessary because I made everything for do not mess up your computer and despite Microsoft Windows7 64bit is very tough to accept an un-certificated DLL, I found a very good safe way to run the App without installation and no hassles. All on-the-fly and in one single click, 1SHOT Yeah!! and now it runs on fine over XP and Vista (i386 and x64). I hope all of you help me to keep this Project alive; I never ever thought that this could be this BIG as it is. Thanks everyone and God bless!"

We will post instructions on how to do this shortly.

Skyfire Submits Browser That Can Play Flash Video to App Store

No comments:

Skyfire has submitted a mobile browser to Apple's App Store capable of playing Flash video while adhering to all Apple's guidelines regarding HTML5 open-video standards on Apple devices, according to a press release published today.

Skyfire 2.0 for iPhone follows on the heels of Skyfire's recent launch on Android, which has now become one of the most popular third-party browsers on Google's mobile platform, with nearly a million downloads in its first three months.

What's in Skyfire 2.0 for iPhone:
● Flash Video –The "Video" icon enables users to play millions of Flash videos around the web that otherwise do not play on mobile. This unlocks content trapped behind those error messages with question marks and blue Legos by transcoding the Flash content into HTML5 on Skyfire's servers.
● Related Content – The "Explore" icon brings the most relevant content on the Internet to a user's fingertips based on what they are viewing at the time. The Explore button pulls video, buzz, news, images and other sites from the wbased on what is on the current page.

Adherence to Apple's Standards:
Skyfire for iPhone was built in tight accordance to Apple guidelines, including the use of a WebKit browser core shared with Safari, and h.264 adaptive streaming.
Skyfire's famed cloud-computing technology translates Flash video on the fly from millions of web sites into HTML5 formats, and supports iOS devices via Apple's HTTP live streaming standard. Skyfire also avoids the concerns raised in Steve Jobs' recent essay regarding Flash on mobile devices. By optimizing Flash for iPhones and network conditions in the Cloud, Skyfire improves performance and maximizes battery life while playing video. The browser also avoids alternate runtime environments and other security vulnerabilities.

"We're excited to submit a mobile browser for iPhone and iPod Touch that addresses Apple's concerns regarding Flash deployment on mobile devices," explains Jeff Glueck, CEO of Skyfire. "Rather than enabling Flash, Skyfire will translate videos into Apple standards. Skyfire supports HTML5 but at the same time, we recognize that the transition to HTML5 for 100 million Flash publishers will take years. We hope to bridge that gap and solve a problem for consumers who want access to millions of previously-unavailable videos on their iPhones."

An Advantage for AT&T:
Not only does Skyfire enable Flash video while adhering to Apple's guidelines, it offers a major enhancement to video data compression for AT&T. Skyfire compresses video data by an average of 75%, reducing buffer time, enhancing battery life and easing the network congestion that has caused user complaints in major metropolitan areas.

It will be interesting to see how Apple responds to this submission.

New iPod Nano Does Not Run iOS, Apple TV Does?

No comments:

For those wondering, the new multi-touch iPod nano does not run iOS. This was confirmed to CultofMac backstage at yesterday's event by an Apple spokesperson.

So for those hoping to be able to jailbreak the device and install various widgets, this may not be possible.

Interestingly, it seems that the Apple TV is in fact running iOS; although this wasn't mentioned at all in the keynote.

According to Daring Fireball's John Gruber, "The device is running iOS, though, trust me. So it’s possible that some sort of SDK is coming in the future. But I’m not going to hold my breath. Judging from the demo today, I think the fact that it’s running iOS under the hood is just an implementation detail."

Apple Introduces iTunes 10 With Ping Social Music Network

No comments:

Apple today introduced iTunes 10 with Ping, a new music-oriented social network for following your favorite artists and friends to discover what music they’re talking about, listening to and downloading. iTunes Ping lets you post your thoughts and opinions, your favorite albums and songs, the music you’ve downloaded from iTunes, plus view concert listings and tell your friends which concerts you plan to attend. iTunes 10 also features HD TV show rentals for just 99 cents an episode and AirPlay wireless music playback.

“iTunes is the number one music community in the world, with over 160 million iTunes users in 23 countries, and now we’re adding social networking with Ping,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With Ping you can follow your favorite artists and friends and join a worldwide conversation with music’s most passionate fans.”

Ping lets you follow your favorite artists to see what they’re up to, check out photos and videos they’ve posted, see their tour dates and read comments about other artists and albums they’re listening to. You can also create a profile on iTunes to let your friends know who you’re following, what you’re listening to and which concerts you’re going to. There’s no better way to discover new music than to find out what your friends are listening to, and Ping’s Recent Activity feed shows you their posts about artists, albums, songs and concerts, plus a consolidated Top 10 list of the songs and albums your friends and the artists you follow are downloading from iTunes. In addition to using Ping on your desktop computer, you can take it with you on your iPhone or iPod touch, so you’re always plugged into your personal music scene.

With iTunes 10, you can rent your favorite HD TV shows commercial free from ABC, ABC Family, Fox, Disney Channel and BBC America and watch them at home or on the go for just 99 cents an episode. Thousands of episodes are available, many the day after broadcast, to watch on your Mac or PC, iPhone, iPod touch and the all-new Apple TV, and you have 30 days from the moment you rent an episode to start watching it, and 48 hours after that to finish it.

iTunes 10 also features AirPlay wireless music playback to listen to your music on remote speakers using Apple’s AirPort Express base station. In addition, AirPlay now works without AirPort Express, using speakers, receivers and stereo systems from companies including Bowers & Wilkins, JBL, Denon and iHome, so you can enjoy your entire iTunes music library wirelessly from any room in the house with no extra gear required.

iTunes 10 is available immediately as a free download at www.itunes.com.
