An App to Help People Know Where Their Day Went

No comments:

TimeTag, created by Capparsa, is a new iPhone application designed to help you track your day. Like a time sheet, it logs time spent on various activities, events, and projects. However, unlike other time apps that inundate you with unnecessary information, TimeTag keeps it simple. Combining a super clean interface with an automagic activity aggregator, TimeTag shows you exactly where your day went.

As you check in and out throughout the day, you attach a tag to each record. A tag is a text snippet that describes whatever you are doing, whether it be working, studying for a test, or asking "if you got that thing I sent you". Tags can be further organized into categories, such as "being productive" or "break time".

TimeTag also features a revolutionary OneTouch Total Button that allows you to immediately total the time spent on any activities or dates. Combined with powerful yet easy searching across any assortment of dates, tags, or categories, you can figure out exactly where your time went without the need for an abacus.

Summary of Features:
* Time Logging with Descriptive Tags
* One-touch hour totaling
* Fast, functional interface to let you enter and exit the app quickly
* Powerful and easy search
* Detailed view of entries
* No tag creation limit
* Automatic tag categorization
* Customizable categories
* Modifiable time records
* Multi-tasking enabled on iOS 4.0
* More features to come

Pricing and Availability:

No comments:

Viaden Mobile has launched All-in Yoga HD: 200 Poses & Yoga Classes, a new yoga app for iPad. Targeted at those willing to master yoga poses or eager to intensify their regular fitness routine, All-in Yoga HD offers all the necessary guidance.

The wide variety of ready-made programs featured by the app focus on all major muscles of the human body: arms, legs, abs etc. Several dozen pre-made pose sequences (static, dynamic and mixed) for various levels make it easy to choose one for a particular goal.

All-in Yoga HD utilizes a state-of-the-art algorithm that creates workouts for users based on the parameters and goals they enter in the app. Aspiring yogis can benefit from the option that allows them to create and modify custom workouts whenever they want.

The widescreen workout mode offered by All-in Yoga HD is simple but very practical. All options - text and voice guidance, video clips, music track choice, sound settings - are easily available right on the workout screen. The workout goes on without interruption and the timer counts down the time a posture should be held. Additional inspiration is provided by special yoga tunes.

All-in Yoga HD encloses an extensive bank of 200 poses with all kinds of instructions - photo, text, audio and video. The poses are arranged according to their level or type. Users can monitor their achievements using a workout log in the calendar which also displays a new yoga-related quote everyday.

"Developing All-in Yoga HD we thought about clear-minded and highly motivated people who are used to achieving what they want. What our potential users need is to make sure that everything works perfectly and according to the plan, even in something as philosophical as yoga. And that's what we are giving them: a reliable high-quality app that beats all competitors simply because it gives users more freedom of choice," says Yuri Gurski, Viaden Mobile CEO.

Pricing and Availability:
All-in Yoga HD: 200 Poses & Yoga Classes (v1.0) is $4.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Healthcare & Fitness category.

Apple Patent Details an iMac Touch, MacBook Touch!

No comments:

Patently Apple has found a European patent filing which details an iMac Touch that can transition from Mac OS X to iOS.

Apple's method of transitioning from OS X to iOS is clearly outlined for both the iMac and MacBook – and it's a grand slam home run. Imagine having an iMac on your desktop one minute and a gigantic iPad the next. Imagine playing iGames on this dream machine - Wow! Imagine reading a double-page book on this - Unbelievable! Apple takes the mystery out of how OS X could finally co-exist with iOS on a Mac and you've got to see this one to believe it.

Apple notes that "while touch-based input is well suited to many applications, conventional styles of input, such as a mouse/keyboard input may be preferred in other applications."

To make the transition from OS X to touch-based iOS you will change the orientation of the iMac's display to make touch more natural. Hinges on the iMac stand will allow you to pull the screen closer and tilt it back so that it lays more flat. The change will be detected by touch sensors on the frame followed by a shift in orientation.

You'll be able to control the threshold which determines when the iMac transitions to iOS. For example, set the threshold angle to 60 degrees to call up iOS or at 90 degrees or higher to recall OS X.

Also included in the patent is a description of a MacBook Touch which would turn into a tablet. "The display could also be oriented for touch input. For example, the display 1130 may be rotated and laid flat against the keyboard 1134, with the backside of the display facing down against the keyboard so that the display screen is facing up, in an orientation for touch input."

Macs See Huge Surge in Government Sales

No comments:

Apple saw gains in government, big business, and the European home market between Q1 and Q2, according to data from Needham IDC.

Analyst Charlie Wolf found that:
● At 35%, Mac shipment growth in June easily exceeded the market's growth rate of 20.9%.
● Mac shipments grew 31.4% in the home market, topping the market's growth rate of 25.2%.
● At 49.8%, the Mac's growth in business was three times higher than the market's 15.7%.
● Mac shipments in government grew 200%, sixteen times faster than the market's 12.1%.

While Apple's fastest growth was in the largest enterprises, Wolf found an "intriguing phenomenon" in the European home market where Apple's unit share more than doubled between Q1 and Q2 (from 3.4% to 7%) and its dollar share more than tripled (from 4.6% to 15.4%).

"The key driver appears to be the iPhone. The iPhone holds a higher share in the European smartphone market than it does in the U.S. because it is distributed through multiple carriers in most countries in this region. In addition, the halo effect emanating from the iPhone is undoubtedly stronger than the iPod halo effect."

Kevin Rose: Apple iTV Will 'Change Everything'

No comments:

Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, is predicting that a rumored update to the Apple TV will once again 'change everything' for the television space.

Here are the four reasons he puts forward:

● iOS TV Applications: Expect to see an iPhone/Pad like marketplace for television applications. Video sharing/streaming/recording apps, interactive news apps, and of course games.

● a la carte (app) stations: With Apple's iAds, content producers (eg. ABC/NBC/etc.) can directly monetize and distribute their content. This will eventually destroy the television side of the cable and satellite industry, as your only requirement to access these on-demand stations will be an internet connection. Say goodbye to your monthly cable bill.

● .Me Picture/Video sharing: At $99 your parents, grandparents, and friends will have an iTV. Sharing pictures/videos from your iPhone will happen with the push of a button. Imagine getting a notification of new family videos the next time you turn on your TV. My mom will love this feature.

● The iPad will turn into one big badass remote control: The iPad will be the preferred input device for the iTV. You'll be able to editing videos, control games, and extend the interactive television experience. Imagine watching monday night football on the TV while viewing/exploring other camera angles on the iPad.

Rose believes we will see the iTV in September and also suggests that GoogleTV will be worth watching for.
