App Finder With a New Design

No comments:

rapidrabbit has announced the release of version 1.1.2 of their AppStore meta-app "appbzr". The Update features a whole new design, a listing of updated apps and recommended apps, based on other apps the user has installed. With the experience made from another AppStore meta-app and lots of user feedback, the ultimate AppStore companion tool has been developed. Users now have the chance to experience the AppStore from a new perspective.

Every day hundreds of apps arrive at the AppStore, their price drops or they receive a feature that makes them very popular. It's increasingly difficult to keep track of these apps. As a result users have to read many blogs or they stop downloading apps at all. "appbzr" (pronounced app bazaar) has, since its release, helped to solve this problem.

"appbzr" has been developed specifically for app enthusiasts and everyone who would like to become one. It will help to organize, discover and share apps and therefore is the ultimate tool for all app lovers. The fast and accessible interface makes browsing through apps fun again. Every feature can be reached with a single tap: price drops, new apps, hot apps, Top100, updated apps and lists. Even a search function has been integrated, that is directly tied to the iTunes Store.

"appbzr" does not limit the user to see generated lists, they also can compose their own lists and share them with their friends. To get them started, three standard lists are provided. Sharing of lists is easy - with a single tap the list can be send via mail to a friend or can be shared on facebook. Sharing individual apps works the same way.

Push messages play a big role, too. Every day the user will get an "appbzr reminder", that tells him how many new price drops, hot and new apps have been found. If an user sets an app on his wish list, he will receive an individual push message when the price for that app drops -a feature that is especially popular with "appbzr" users.

Here is a short overview about the app:
* Price drops, hot, updated and new apps only a tap away
* The Top 100 of the biggest AppStore countries easily accessible
* Users can compose and share their own app lists
* Push messages inform the user about what's going on at the AppStore
* Integrated search function
* Great user interface that leaves room for features to come

Supported Languages:
* US English, German, Italian and Spanish

Pricing and Availability:
appbzr 1.1.2 is free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category.

73% of iPhone Users Are Very Satisfied With AT&T

No comments:

Yankee Group has found that 73% of iPhone users are very satisfied with AT&T's service.

According to CNNMoney, AT&T's satisfaction rate is 68% overall and 69% for all smartphone users. So why are iPhone owners surprisingly satisfied with AT&T?

"Consumers transfer the high gloss of their Apple iPhone experience to AT&T," says Carl Howe, Yankee Group analyst and author of the study. "The iPhone creates a halo effect that rubs off."

AT&T also offered their own statement, "There's a gap between what people hear about us and what their experience is with us. We think that gap is beginning to close," says Mark Siegel, an AT&T spokesman. "It doesn't mean we're perfect; we still have work to do. But that's no surprise to us, because we have a great network."

Papers adds PDF Highlighting and Notetaking

No comments:

Mekentosj has announced a brand new version of Papers for iOS, a PDF library app for anyone doing research. The new release adds iBooks-like highlighting and note taking functionality for PDFs on the iPad, as well as support for fast user switching and the high resolution retina display of the iPhone4.

In the 3 months since its release thousands of researchers have embraced Papers for iPad as their favorite way to read their PDFs and research articles. One thing was clear however, their number one request was the ability to highlight or copy text passages and leave notes on PDFs. With today's new release that is now possible. Highlighting and note taking with Papers for iPad is simple and intuitive; what iBooks allows you to do on eBooks, Papers allows you to do with PDF. It makes reading an even better experience on the iPad.

Simply tap and drag to select a piece of text and tap highlight or copy, that is all there is to it. Highlighting can be very accurate thanks to a loupe that pops up while you select text, and Papers for iPad deals with multi-column PDFs too.

In addition, with Papers for iPad you can capture all the ideas, comments and thought you have while reading your PDFs. Tap and hold anywhere on the page and a sticky-note pops up on which you can type away. A red pin will help you quickly locate where you left your notes, almost like Google Maps for your Papers!

But also for iPhone owners there's exciting news, Papers is now fully optimized for iOS4. It supports fast application switching, as well as the razor sharp retina display of the iPhone4. PDFs never looked this good.

"A couple of years ago, a Mac OS X application came along and blew my socks off. Now, the company behind Papers, Mekentosj, has done it again, this time by bringing its killer app to the iPhone in a timely manner. It doesn't disappoint." - Ars technica

"When I found Papers on the app store, I realized that I had found a solution that was not only easier, but helped me conduct research in ways I didn't even know I needed with a mobile device." - WhatsoniPhone

iTunes Rewind 2009 | Ranked among the top 30 Best Apps of the Year 2009 in the UK iTunes store.

Pricing and Availability:
Papers 1.8 for iOS is available for $14.99 (USD) in the iTunes app store. Review copies are available. If you are interested in trying Papers for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and are a member of the press or would like to cover it on your website or blog, please contact us by email for a free copy. A press kit with high resolution images available on request.

Microsoft Signs Licensing Deal for Arm Chip Technology

No comments:

Microsoft has signed an important new agreement to license technology for the Arm microprocessor, according to Infoworld.

The deal opens up the possibility that Microsoft could design its own Arm-based chips in the future.

"We have licensed our architecture and our instruction set to Microsoft," said Ian Drew, executive vice president of marketing at Arm. "This type of license allows you to design your own microarchitecture."

Only a few select companies such as Qualcomm, Marvell, and Infineon hold similar licenses. "As an architectural licensee, Microsoft wants to go public about adding itself to that short list," Drew said.

"Arm is an important partner for Microsoft and we deliver multiple operating systems on the company's architecture, most notably Windows Embedded and Windows Phone," Microsoft said in a statement.

AT&T Activated Nearly 500,000 iPads Last Quarter

No comments:

AT&T announced that it activated 400,000 to 500,000 3G iPads during Q2 on its earnings call, according to BusinessInsider.

Notably, these numbers only account for the last two months of Q2 as the iPad 3G was released until the end of April.

Other remarks:
● It's "surprising" how many business customers are approaching AT&T about the iPad.
● iPad users are using more data per month than the typical iPhone customer, but less than the typical laptop-card customer, which makes sense.
● 75% to 80% of the iPad 3G subscribers are at the more expensive ($25/month) AT&T 3G data plan. Overall monthly bills in the $25-$30 range, including early customers who signed up for the $30/month unlimited plan before it was discontinued.
