Verizon to buy At&t, Verizon branded iPhone

No comments:

If you haven’t heard, there has been a lot of talk lately about Verizon buying At&t. Verizon would therefore be the nations strongest network, no matter what way you look at it. Think about it – At&t’s Reception + Verizon Reception = Orgasm Speeds. What this could also mean is a Verizon branded iPhone. Read on to find out more.

As some of you may know, Verizon just LOVES to brand their devices. If it is going to be on their network – its going to be branded. Many say they don’t mind the branding, as long as it isn’t very noticeable. How can you make a branding “not very noticeable” on the worlds most beautiful device? You cant. Tell us what you would think of a Verizon Branded iPhone 4 in the comments below. We would love to hear what you have to say..

*thanks Appinsect*

Ok this sounds interesting and would Bethesda only way that verizon would have anything to do with the iPhone for at least two more years. As we have stated before the iPhone 4 was released, the new 4g network would all run gsm ( simcards ).
Oh and btw AT&T company value is more than Verizons.

Google Revamps Google Images With Tiled Layout

No comments:

Over the next few days Google is rolling out an update to Google Images which aims to 'match the scope and beauty' of the fast-growing visual web.

Here’s What’s New:
● Dense tiled layout designed to make it easy to look at lots of images at once. We want to get the app out of the way so you can find what you’re really looking for.
● Instant scrolling between pages, without letting you get lost in the images. You can now get up to 1,000 images, all in one scrolling page. And we’ll show small, unobtrusive page numbers so you don’t lose track of where you are.
● Larger thumbnail previews on the results page, designed for modern browsers and high-res screens.
● A hover pane that appears when you mouse over a given thumbnail image, giving you a larger preview, more info about the image and other image-specific features such as “Similar images.”
● Once you click on an image, you’re taken to a new landing page that displays a large image in context, with the website it’s hosted on visible right behind it. Click anywhere outside the image, and you’re right in the original page where you can learn more about the source and context.
● Optimized keyboard navigation for faster scrolling through many pages, taking advantage of standard web keyboard shortcuts such as Page Up / Page Down. It’s all about getting you to the info you need quickly, so you can get on with actually building that treehouse or buying those flowers.

Google is also launching a new ad format called Image Search Ads. These ads appear only on Google Images, and they let you include a thumbnail image alongside your lines of text.

Apple has responded to a congressional inquiry by Reps. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) regarding its privacy policies.

The two representatives contacted Apple after an update to its privacy policy on June 21st caused customer concern.

"To provide location-based services on Apple products, Apple and our partners and licensees may collect, use, and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your Apple computer or device. This location data is collected anonymously in a form that does not personally identify you and is used by Apple and our partners and licensees to provide and improve location-based products and services."

As requested, Apple answered by July 12. The full text of their response is embedded below.

Notably, if customers do not agree to the privacy policy they will not be able to setup an iTunes account. If they do not wish to share their location data they can opt out by turning off location-based services on their device; however, Apple says location data is kept anonymous.

"When a customer's device sends Wi-Fi, cell tower, GPS, or diagnostic location information to Apple, it does not include any information identifying the particular device or user."

In the case of iAd, Apple's new iOS-based advertising program, a user's latitude and longitude coordinates are collected anonymously and immediately converted to a five-digit ZIP code. The lat/long info is not retained, and the iAd server does not match ZIP code info with a particular device or user, according to Apple. Advertisers never see the ZIP code info. Apple does keep it for six months "to administer and improve the iAd network." After six months the company aggregates the info "for administrative purposes."

You can learn more about Apple's privacy and location practices by reading the document below...

Apple Donates MacPaint Source Code to Computer History Museum

No comments:

Apple has donated the source code for MacPaint to the Computer History Museum, according to Business Week.

Released in 1984 with the Mac, it is fondly remembered not only by those who used it, but also by computer scientists for numerous first-of-a-kind innovations. Those who spend a lot of time using Adobe Photoshop constantly use such features as the lasso tool for selecting non-rectangular shapes, and the paint bucket for filling closed areas with a pattern, and later, color. Both first appeared in MacPaint. The program was unique at the time for its ability to create graphics that could then be used in other applications.

You can find a history of the application as well as some anecdotes about author Bill Atkinson on the museum's site.

Apple Working on a New Video Format?

No comments:

Apple may be preparing a new video format as it works towards becoming a major player in the video and television market, according to HardMac.

A transition towards better codec, dropping the efficient but CPU-consuming encoding codec H.264 for adopting Wavelet transform-type of codec which will allow even better compression rate while offering better efficiency. This type of compression was already used for the JPEG 2000 format. If we did not get confirmation yet, we can suspect that Apple will be using a format evolving or directly originating from Dirac. In addition, this format is now a standard (and open source format) known under the name of VC2, while the VC1 is a proprietary format from Microsoft found in BD media with H.264. The ultimate goal for Apple would be to promote this new format to support 4 K video (up to 4096x2160.

HardMac notes that most customers don't have a 4K compatible device; however, they believe Apple could enter the market with a high-end device (perhaps an Apple TV) that offers increasing definition.

FCC Approves Apple Magic Trackpad?

No comments:

A bluetooth device known only by its model number A1339 has been approved by the FCC. Engadget is pretty sure the device is Apple's Magic Trackpad.

A device known only by its model number A1339 is the culprit here, described as a "Bluetooth Device" used in conjunction with a MacBook without any associated filings for WiFi or WWAN networks. The ultra-rough label location diagram is definitely the right shape for the accessory, and what's interesting is that the test report was completed way back in October of 2009. Has Apple seriously been sitting on this thing for the better part of a year? Keep a close eye on the Apple Store for this one, folks.

No comments:

It's possible that Apple might have a shot to beat Microsoft in revenue for the first time in its history this quarter, according to Fortune.

Apple will report second quarter earnings on Tuesday, and Microsoft will follow on Thursday. Though Apple still has a ways to go to compete with Microsoft in terms of net income due to Microsoft's untouchable operating margin, many will be surprised to discover that Apple's revenues are close to surpassing Microsoft's. If it doesn't happen this week, it will almost certainly come in the next quarterly announcement.

Take a look at the charts below to see how Apple has been closing in on Microsoft.
